Basketball Recap: Winside's Losing Streak Snapped at 17 Games

Winside needed a changed in momentum after dropping 17 straight games and they got it from Hadleigh Schutt. The Winside Wildcats strolled past the Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 40-24 thanks in part to Schutt, who posted 23 points along with seven boards and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Winside's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Topp, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Topp is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season.

Winside's win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-2. As for Newman Grove/St. Edward, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winside will take on Tri County Northeast in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Newman Grove/St. Edward, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers duke it out with the Palmer Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
