Baseball Recap: Gloucester Catholic Sets Scoring Season-High Against Washington Township

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gloucester Catholic). Everything went their way against the Washington Township Minutemen on Thursday as they made off with a 15-2 win. The Rams have beaten the Minutemen the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Minutemen has come to flipping the script.

Sal Marziani looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Guy Lynam was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Mike Angelo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Gloucester Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gloucester Catholic's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Washington Township, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
