The Westview Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Valley Center Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Valley Center will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Westview extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Wolverines never let Escondido get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Westview got a massive performance out of Taylor Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Thomas has posted since back in May of 2024. Abby Peake also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley Center). They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over Bonsall on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Jaguars with their most commanding win of the season.
Nevaeh Colon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Su'La Devers was a standout: she got on base in two of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Juliana Leichtfuss was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Valley Center kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Westview's record now sits at 15-8-1. As for Valley Center, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-17.
Westview took their victory against Valley Center in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
