Baseball Game Preview: La Salle Falcons vs. Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts Mustangs

La Salle is a perfect 6-0 against Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. La Salle is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.

It was a Battle of the Birds when La Salle faced off against Hood River Valley on Tuesday. The Falcons walked away with a 9-5 win over the Eagles. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 3, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Torsten Hersom made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Declan O'Brien, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jack Schweitzer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centennial.

La Salle pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
