Baseball Game Preview: Boulder Creek Jaguars vs. Liberty Lions

Boulder Creek is 2-8 against Liberty since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Lions at 3:45 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Boulder Creek fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Queen Creek on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 10-9.

Sal Montes was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Tsau, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Mountain Ridge. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly two runs.

Boulder Creek's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.

Boulder Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Liberty in their previous meeting on Monday, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
