Reedley has gone a perfect 3-0 against Hanford West recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Reedley will square off against Hanford West at 6:30 p.m. This will be Reedley's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
Last Thursday, Reedley came up short against Mission Oak and fell 7-4.
Arianna Zarate was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Jocelyn Fonseca was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Even though they lost, Reedley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hanford West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Caruthers on Thursday as Hanford West made off with a 16-2 win. The Huskies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Hanford West got a massive performance out of Adyson Owens, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Owens a new career-high. Emma Guzman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Hanford West's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Reedley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Reedley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Hanford West struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Reedley came out on top in a nail-biter against Hanford West in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 13-12. Will Reedley repeat their success, or does Hanford West has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
