Basketball Game Preview: Montgomery County Indians vs. Scott Eagles

Montgomery County hasn't had much luck against Scott recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Montgomery County Indians will venture away from home to challenge the Scott Eagles at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Montgomery County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.

Montgomery County can't be too worried about heading out to take on Scott: they just beat Highlands at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Montgomery County came out on top against Highlands by a score of 83-70 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Scott played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 69-32 loss at the hands of Simon Kenton. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Pioneers are ranked 27th).

Montgomery County will need to focus on slowing down Aaron Hampton, one of several Scott players who made an impact when they last played. He went 8-for-19 to rack up 18 points. The contest was Hampton's third in a row with at least 18 points. Kaymon Coleman was another key player, putting up two points.

Montgomery County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points over those games. As for Scott, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

Montgomery County suffered a grim 78-55 defeat to Scott in their previous matchup back in December of 2018. Can Montgomery County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
