Basketball Recap: Eau Gallie Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Eau Gallie can now relate to. The contest between them and the Rockledge Raiders didn't end well, with the Eau Gallie Commodores falling 55-41. The Commodores' loss continues a trend for the team, making it eight in a row.

Defeat or not, Eau Gallie got some senior leadership from Quentin Hardin and Dj Maultsby. Hardin went 6 for 15 en route to 16 points, while Maultsby went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maultsby has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joell Rios, who posted four points.

Rockledge was led to victory by Brady Kearns and Conlan Oakley. Kearns scored nine points along with six boards and five assists, while Oakley went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points and five assists. D'Maryon Bryant was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

Eau Gallie's loss dropped their record down to 5-20. As for Rockledge, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-9.

Eau Gallie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rockledge, they will welcome Titusville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rockledge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Titusville likes a good challenge.
