Football Game Preview: Wharton Wildcats vs. Plant Panthers + How To Watch

The Wharton Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Plant Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Wharton easily dispatched Sickles last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Wildcats fell just short of East Bay by a score of 27-24 on Friday. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Berry Sanders, who rushed for six yards and two TDs, and also picked up 57 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Wharton's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Markeal Howard was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

Meanwhile, Plant fell victim to Armwood and their airtight defense last Friday. They had to suffer through a 40-0 loss at the hands of the Hawks. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Plant's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Wharton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Wharton was taken down by Plant 67-21 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Jc Mirasola (who threw for 327 yards and eight touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
