Baseball Recap: Lake Brantley Triumphs

Lake Brantley won the last time they faced Olympia and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Titans 3-2.

Nick Burgos tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Julian Smith was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maurice Brown, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Lake Brantley's record is now 14-5-1. As for Olympia, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Looking ahead, Lake Brantley will be playing in front of their home fans against Hagerty at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Olympia, they will challenge Timber Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
