Softball Game Preview: Bishop Kenny Crusaders vs. Atlantic Coast Stingrays

The Bishop Kenny Crusaders will take on the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Atlantic Coast took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bishop Kenny, who comes in off a win.

Bishop Kenny barely beat First Coast the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Crusaders blew past the Buccaneers 9-2 on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Crusaders, who have now won three matches in a row.

Sophia Mulkey made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mulkey was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Ava Farnham was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Jackson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Bishop Kenny hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, after a string of 15 wins, Atlantic Coast's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Ponte Vedra by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Stingrays have suffered since May 2, 2024.

Atlantic Coast saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stella Lynton, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Atlantic Coast's defeat dropped their record down to 15-2. As for Bishop Kenny, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
