Softball Recap: Central Christian Takes a Loss

Central Christian extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They fell 10-6 to the Mansfield Christian Flames. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flames this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 on Monday.

Edisa Plants made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and earned three runs and three stolen bases. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lily Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

As for Mansfield Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

On Mansfield Christian's side, Bailee Nelson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Nelson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 3rd.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ayla Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Docherty also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Christian will face off against Malvern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mansfield Christian, they will challenge Hiland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
