Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Islanders vs. Point Loma Pointers

For the second straight game, Coronado will face off against Point Loma. The Islanders will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Pointers at 4:00 p.m. Coronado hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Coronado came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Point Loma by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Islanders have suffered since March 30th.

For Point Loma's part, Hunter Weller looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The Pointers are undefeated when Weller allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-6-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Wyatt Olson was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Seiler, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

Point Loma is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-1 record this season. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
