Softball Preview: South Pasadena Tigers vs. Monrovia Wildcats
South Pasadena is 2-8 against Monrovia since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will head out to challenge the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. South Pasadena is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
While South Pasadena didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitcher stepped up to hand South Gate a 9-0 shutout two weeks ago. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
South Pasadena got a great performance from Lucia Atencio as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Atencio has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ava Dawson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Andrea Becerra also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Monrovia was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against Duarte, falling 11-1.
Monrovia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mackenzie Delgado, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
South Pasadena's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Monrovia, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-1.
