Softball Recap: South Medford Takes a Loss

South Medford entered their matchup against North Medford on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Panthers fell just short of the Black Tornado by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Tornado this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 on April 1st.

Jordan Knutson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jayden Cote made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

South Medford's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for North Medford, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Black Tornado beat South Medford by a score of 7-4 later that day.
