Volleyball Recap: Sweeny Comes Up Short

Sweeny lost against Needville back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bulldogs came up short against the Bluejays, falling 3-0.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Needville scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17, 25-20.

Belle Seibert paced Sweeny's offense, picking up 13 kills. Seibert got some help from Stevie Brown and her 23 assists. Hannah Forshee controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Mckenzi Griffin, who had 16 digs and one assist.

Sweeny's defeat dropped their record down to 25-8. As for Needville, their victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 33-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sweeny is set to take on their familiar foe Bay City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Needville will square off against rival El Campo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
