Football Recap: Commerce Comes Up Short at Home Against Fairland

Commerce unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Fairland Owls and fell 47-6. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Carson Schertz was nothing short of spectacular for Fairland: he threw for 202 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 61 yards and one score.

Fairland has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Commerce wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 30-12 win against Oklahoma Union on the 12th. As for Fairland, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Wyandotte at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
