Volleyball Recap: Maranatha Takes a Loss

Maranatha lost against Rio Hondo Prep back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Maranatha Minutemen lost 3-0 to the Rio Hondo Prep Kares.

Maranatha was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-13, 25-18.

Simon Li paced Maranatha's offense, picking up seven kills. Li were helped by Kade Bentkowski-Holdren and Henric Mcbryde, who contributed eight assists each. Finally, Chris Burkle kept Maranatha's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Maranatha's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Rio Hondo Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.

Maranatha will face off against Glendale at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Glendale will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Maranatha surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rio Hondo Prep, they will take on San Dimas at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
