Softball Recap: Swanton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Evergreen on Wednesday, Swanton came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Elmwood Royals by a score of 4-3 on Friday.

Alexa Faber was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Faber wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carli LaGrange, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Swanton now has a losing record of 13-14. As for Elmwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Swanton will square off against Eastwood at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Elmwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
