Basketball Recap: Meigs Comes Up Short

Meigs lost against Athens back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Meigs Marauders had to suffer through a 100-8 loss at the hands of the Athens Bulldogs. The match marked the Marauders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Athens' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brystol Stump, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 21 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. With that strong performance, Stump is now averaging an impressive 2.7 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Asa Holcombe, who went 7 for 14 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight steals and six assists.

Meigs' loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Athens, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Meigs will take on Wellston in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Athens and Alexander will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Athens' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
