Softball Recap: Westbrook Has No Trouble Against Massabesic

Westbrook hadn't done well against Massabesic recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Blue Blazes were the clear victors by a 20-6 margin over the Mustangs. The game marked the Blue Blazes' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Madison Ross was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Ross was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Ava Anderson and Greta Krantz did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Krantz went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Anderson has posted since back in May of 2024. Hannah Christensen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Westbrook hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Westbrook's record is now 3-1. As for Massabesic, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Westbrook will host Kennebunk at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Massabesic, they will head out to take on Bonny Eagle at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scots have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
