Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends O'connell's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but O'Connell unfortunately witnessed the end of their 15-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 50-36 bruising from the Fort Bend Dulles Vikings. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Buccaneers came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Vikings are ranked 975th).

Leading Fort Bend Dulles to victory were Jaylen Koovakada and Jayden Redhead. Koovakada posted 21 points and seven rebounds, while Redhead had 20 points and eight rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Redhead has scored at least a third of Fort Bend Dulles' points. Another player making a difference was Gunny Singh, who earned four points and eight rebounds.

O'Connell's defeat dropped their record down to 18-3. As for Fort Bend Dulles, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-15.

O'Connell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-63 loss against East Chambers on the 30th. As for Fort Bend Dulles, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-51 defeat against Bridgeland on the 28th.
