It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dirigo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Winthrop Ramblers 7-6. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Leighton Waite was excellent, going 4-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Dominick Varnum also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
The victory was the third in a row for Dirigo, bringing their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Winthrop, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
