Basketball Game Preview: Waldron Mohawks vs. Sheridan Blackhawks

The Waldron Mohawks will face off against the Sheridan Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Waldron didn't have quite enough to beat Liberty Christian and fell 55-52. The loss continues a trend for the Mohawks in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost six in a row.

The losing side was boosted by Lucas Shaw, who on his way to 18 points. His big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Max Jones, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Sheridan took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 77-44 victory over Edinburgh. The Blackhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Sheridan's win came from a few key players Waldron will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Caleb Wright, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine assists. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Page, who to rack up 19 points and three steals.

Sheridan has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That lines up perfectly with their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points over those games. Waldron's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Waldron couldn't quite finish off Sheridan when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 59-56.
