Basketball Recap: Mountain Vista Skates Past Loveland with Ease

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mountain Vista had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 81-47 victory over the Loveland Red Wolves. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 25 points or more this season.

Oliver Junker was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double with ten points, 13 rebounds, and ten assists. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down 13 or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cal Baskind, who went 8-for-18 en route to 19 points and three steals.

Despite the defeat, Loveland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jackson Gebhardt posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nic Rakowsky, who scored ten points.

Mountain Vista is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Loveland moved to 17-8 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Mountain Vista will challenge Overland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 24 games -- so hopefully Overland likes a good challenge. Loveland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
