Baseball Recap: Deforest Drops Season-High Score on Oregon

DeForest not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 18, 2024 (when they won 12-1). They blew past the Oregon Panthers 11-1. The Norskies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Eli Galvin spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because DeForest is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, DeForest let Carter Meyers and Nolan Pennekamp run wild. Meyers went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Pennekamp went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two RBI gave Meyers a new career-high. Cullen Kirchberg was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

DeForest now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Oregon, they moved to 6-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

DeForest will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
