California high school football: Previewing this week's biggest games, full scoreboard

Pair of NorCal battles between Junipero Serra vs. Folsom and Grant vs. De La Salle highlight Friday night action.

This week's high school football schedule in California is headlined by No. 19 Junipero Serra (San Mateo) taking on No. 7 Folsom and Grant (Sacramento) heading to the Bay Area to play No. 13 De La Salle (Concord).

Folsom is coming off a 63-20 win over Long Beach Poly (Long Beach) after Ryder Lyons, Carter Jackson and Daymion Rivera combined to rush for five touchdowns. This week the Bulldogs take on Junipero Serra, a squad that won last year's meeting before reaching the Open Division state championship game.

Grant is 1-0 after defeating Edison (Stockton) 28-7 last week after senior three-star Brandon Lambert rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns. Three-star senior Jeremiah Tuiileila added two sacks. Now the Pacers travel to take on De La Salle in an early-season battle with major playoff implications.

In Southern California, No. 8 Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita) will take on No. 2 Centennial (Corona). Centennial fell to No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) last week 42-25 despite junior Dominick Catalano throwing for 189 yards while rushing for 98 more.

Santa Margarita fell to No. 3 Mission Viejo 35-7. The Eagles were led by junior wide receiver Trent Mosley who caught 10 passes for 121 yards in the losing effort.



Lincoln (San Diego) heads to play No. 25 Long Beach Poly. Lincoln lost a roller-coaster game to Arbor View (Las Vegas) 45-44 in its season opener. Four-star quarterback Akili Smith Jr. passed for 371 yards and four touchdowns. His top target was senior wideout Ty Olsen who caught all four scores while tallying up 300 receiving yards.

No. 11 Oaks Christian (Westlake Village) will square off with No. 9 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth), which fell to JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano) 35-7 last week and is 1-1 on the season. The Trailblazers are led by quarterback Wyatt Becker and running back Dane Dunn.

Oaks Christian opened its season with a 24-17 victory over Chaminade (West Hills) last week after junior Deshonne Redeaux had two rushing touchdowns. Defensively, sophomore Bryan Narcisse and senior Easton Thompson each had an interception.
