Soccer Game Preview: Uvalde vs. Floresville

Uvalde has won six straight games at home, while Floresville has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) will host the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Uvalde is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

Uvalde took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against Somerset, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Uvalde's defense stepped up to hand Somerset a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Coyotes/Lobos (for girls)'s defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Talon Gonzales, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, everything went Floresville's way against Somerset on Friday as Floresville made off with a 4-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers/Jaguars, who have now won 14 matches by four goals or more so far this season.

Uvalde is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those 11 contests. Floresville's win bumped their record up to 14-6.

Uvalde might still be hurting after the 5-1 defeat they got from Floresville in their previous meeting back in February. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Uvalde was down 4-0.
