Clark is 0-5 against Johnson since December of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Cougars will host the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m.
Things were looking good for Clark after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Reagan, falling 38-14. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rattlers 7-0 in the first quarter.
Although Clark took the loss, they still got scores from Xavier Canavis and Dom Moore.
Meanwhile, Johnson put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed past Churchill to the tune of 48-3. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won six matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
Johnson's win came from a few key players Clark will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Elvis Estrada, who threw for 262 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76% of his passes, and also rushed for 47 yards. Another player making a difference was Bryson Thompson, who picked up 137 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Johnson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Clark's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Johnson, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Clark has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 176.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Johnson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 195.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Clark couldn't quite get it done against Johnson in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 as they fell 34-21. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
