Softball Game Preview: Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Patriots vs. Woodson Cavaliers

The Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Patriots will face off against the Woodson Cavaliers at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Woodson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: St. Catherine's, who was ranked 12th at the time (Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association was ranked 20th). The Patriots fell just short of the Saints by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Woodson hadn't done well against Robinson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cavaliers came out on top against the Rams by a score of 7-4.

Delaney Fleming made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Fleming was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kelby Lennen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Sam Klein was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Woodson, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
