Basketball Game Preview: Cristo Rey Monarchs vs. Mater Biscayne Academy Wildcats

The Cristo Rey Monarchs will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Mater Biscayne Academy Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Cristo Rey is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They received a blow last Friday as they fell 58-44 to BridgePrep Academy. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Cristo Rey's loss came about despite a quality game from Omarian Goree, who posted 23 points. Another player making a difference was McAndy Oreste, who earned 13 points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mater Biscayne Academy took on Franklin Academy on Monday. The Wildcats fell 62-55 to the Panthers. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 12-8 in the first quarter.
