Baseball Recap: Gaylord Wins Going Away Against Elk Rapids

Gaylord got themselves on the board against Elk Rapids on Friday, but Elk Rapids never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Elks with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brady Shepherd made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Shepherd was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Finley Miller was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josias Ferrett, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Gaylord's win bumped their record up to 11-5-3. As for Elk Rapids, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Looking ahead, Gaylord will welcome Harbor Light Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elk Rapids, they will take on Harbor Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Elks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
