The Alhambra Moors will square off against the Eagle Rock Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Things were looking good for Alhambra after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 5-2 to Rio Hondo Prep. The game marked the Moors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Alhambra got a good showing from Glorianne Nieto, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Nieto has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alhambra saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amari Antunez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eagle Rock was able to grind out a solid win over Cleveland on Wednesday, taking the game 9-5. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Marcella Terrazas was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Terrazas was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Julyssa Castellon was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was AJ Jimenez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Eagle Rock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleveland only posted a batting average of .233.
Alhambra now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Eagle Rock, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Alhambra suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Eagle Rock in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Moors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
