Baseball Recap: Hurricane Takes a Loss

Hurricane had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-13 to make it 14. They came up short against the Dixie Flyers, falling 10-2. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly eight runs.

Lani Matsuoka made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

As for Dixie, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games.

On Dixie's side, Weston Gilmore was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Gilmore has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Turley, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

While Hurricane had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
