Baseball Game Preview: South Vermillion Wildcats vs. Riverton Parke Panthers

The South Vermillion Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Riverton Parke Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Vermillion is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

On Tuesday, South Vermillion narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Attica 7-6.

Bryson Lemmons was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of South Vermillion's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Heber, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Riverton Parke didn't have quite enough to beat Parke Heritage on Tuesday and fell 4-3. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Riverton Parke saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Goff, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Goff has hit this season.

Riverton Parke's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for South Vermillion, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

South Vermillion beat Riverton Parke 7-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
