Football Recap: Liberty Gets the Win + How To Watch

The third road contest was the charm for Liberty, as they earned their first away win of the season. They walked away with a 17-10 victory over the Independence Falcons on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

One reason for the win was Liberty's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Independence's QB won't forget Ronin Davis anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rickey Johnson, who rushed for 36 yards and one TD, and also picked up 64 receiving yards. Johnson was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 52 yards. Gunter Golla Iii helped out on the ground, rushing for 93 yards.

Liberty's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Liberty and Independence will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Patriots see the field they'll take on Frontier at 7:30 p.m. on October 10. As for Independence, their break will end when they face Ridgeview at 7:30 p.m. on October 10.
