Arrowhead had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 3-7 to make it five. They fell just short of the Slinger Owls by a score of 9-8. The Warhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Owls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.
Arrowhead got a good showing from Alex Armiger, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Cam Carter made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Jacob Madlung was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Slinger, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Slinger's side, they got a great performance from Aaron Neusen as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.
At the plate, Grady Chvosta was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Tennies, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arrowhead will head out to square off against Oak Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Warhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Slinger, they are taking a road trip to take on Nicolet at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
