Basketball Recap: Oliver Thompson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Portland Adventist Academy over Scio + How To Watch

Portland Adventist Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 56-45 to the Scio Loggers. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Loggers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Oliver Thompson, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Thompson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Martin Villa, who shot 46% from the field en route to 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scio to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rhordan Meadows, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards. Brycen Zosel was another key player, going 5-for-11 on his way to 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Portland Adventist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Scio, their record is now 2-3.

Portland Adventist Academy will take on Santiam in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Scio and Taft will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
