Preview: Bruce Trojans vs. Houlka Wildcats
The Bruce Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Houlka Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Bruce suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 62-41 loss at the hands of Calhoun City. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Bruce has suffered against Calhoun City since December 10, 2021.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Laken Corbitt, who scored 16 points along with five blocks and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. A'toria Knox was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Houlka, who are still winless after their 17th match. They took a 34-15 bruising from Vardaman on Tuesday.
Destiny Foster put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Bruce and nudges their season record down to 6-10. As for Houlka, their loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-17.
Bruce took their win against Houlka in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 56-30. With Bruce ahead 32-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
