Baseball Recap: Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Takes a Loss

Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale was the 9-8 winner over Menahga when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Bears took a 16-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Braves on Tuesday. Even if the Bears couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Menahga, they moved to 2-10 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale will host Lake Park-Audubon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Menahga, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Wadena-Deer Creek at 1:00 p.m.
