Baseball Recap: Reading's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

Reading had lost five games at home, but after bumping their record up to 4-10 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 victory over the Daniel Boone Blazers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red KNights have posted since May 9, 2024.

Anferny Trinidad was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Trinidad was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Reading got a massive performance out of Frandy Ruiz, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Ruiz a new career-high. Samir Diaz Batista also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

As for Daniel Boone, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. On the bright side, the 11- run effort marked their highest-scoring game to date.

On Daniel Boone's side, Ryan Kriebel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. The Blazers are 2-1 when Kriebel posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Hayden Lee was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Reading and Daniel Boone could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Red KNights (ranked 469th) will meet Muhlenberg (ranked 165th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Daniel Boone will face off against Fleetwood at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (411 vs. 62).
