Softball Recap: Bristol Eastern Wins Going Away Against Manchester

Bristol Eastern won the last time they faced Manchester and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lancers blew past the Red Hawks 11-5. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Hailey Beebe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emily Valentine, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Corinne Sutula, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Bristol Eastern's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Manchester, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Bristol Eastern will venture away from home to take on Lewis Mills at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Manchester, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Glastonbury at 3:45 p.m.
