Cumberland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mia Hamel, who had 13 digs and two aces, and Lyla Parmentier, who hit 66.7% for five kills and four aces and three digs. Parmentier is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 27 games she's played dating back to last season. Mia Mercure also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.
Meanwhile, Westerly put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Norwich Free Academy 3-0.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Westerly was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-13, 25-10.
Cumberland better keep an eye on Ella Keegan. She was instrumental in Westerly's win, getting 15 digs and one assist.
Westerly was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in eight consecutive matches.
Westerly's win bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Cumberland, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Cumberland has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Westerly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Cumberland came up short against Westerly in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 3-1. Will the Clippers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more volleyball content.
