Baseball Recap: West Nassau Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

With a playoff win on the line, West Nassau rose to the challenge on Thursday. They beat the Fernandina Beach Pirates by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. That's the fifth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 5-4 win on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Foster Hatton, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Landon Mixon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

West Nassau hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

West Nassau pushed their record up to 19-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fernandina Beach, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-8.

Coming up, West Nassau will head out to square off against South Walton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Seahawks will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. Fernandina Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
