Recap: Chiawana Riverhawks vs. Kamiakin Braves

The Chiawana Riverhawks are still undefeated this season after their game against the Kamiakin Braves on Saturday, but the Kamiakin Braves came as close as anyone has to beating them. Chiawana came out on top in a nail-biter against Kamiakin and snuck past 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Chiawana got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gianna Medelez out in front who scored 17 points along with three steals. Medelez also scored 15+ points for the first time this season. Malia Ruud was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Chiawana's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Kamiakin, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chiawana will take on Ellensburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kamiakin is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Hermiston at 5:45 p.m. on December 12th. Hermiston has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 202 points over their last three matches.
