MaxPreps takes a look at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoff outlook.

(Editor's note: Steve Montoya is the Executive Editor at MaxPreps.com. He also has a weekly newsletter each week he sends out to the Sac-Joaquin Section football coaches. This is only a projection. We will update every week.)

Updated Oct. 27

MaxPreps will have a bracket projection before the final week of games.

With still three weeks to go for most teams in the Sac-Joaquin Section, we're far away from knowing who is in and who is out of playoff contention.

But if you look at past years' results, several teams appear to have already met the requirements needed to get in.

In order to earn an at-large bid you need to have a minimum of two league wins. And at-large teams will be selected solely on the basis of regular season victories if they meet the two league-win minimum.

Last year, the teams with six total wins and at least two league wins all got in.

From Division I-IV, Nevada Union (Grass Valley), Grant (Sacramento), Pacheco (Los Banos), and Lincoln all earned a postseason bid last season with five wins.

Rio Vista and Bradshaw Christian (Sacramento) made it in with five wins from Divisions V-VI.

As a reminder, all league winners and runner-up teams will get automatic berths.
