Recap: Jefferson Christian Academy Cardinals vs. Mercer Christian Academy Cavaliers
The Jefferson Christian Academy Cardinals 's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Mercer Christian Academy on the road and fell 58-31. While losing is never fun, Jefferson Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 378th in Virginia, while Mercer Christian Academy is ranked 85th in West Virginia).
It was another big night for MJ Patton, who scored 26 points along with five assists and five steals for Mercer Christian Academy. That makes it four consecutive games in which Patton has scored at least a third of Mercer Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Carpenter, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Jefferson Christian Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Mercer Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
Jefferson Christian Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Narrows at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Narrows will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive. Mercer Christian Academy will take on Lewisburg Baptist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lewisburg Baptist Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five last Friday.
