Volleyball Recap: 12 Straight Home Wins for Unity Christian

Unity Christian had won 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 13-5 to make it 13. They won by a set and slipped past the Galesburg Christian Lions 3-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 2-0 win last Saturday.

Emily Merema paced Unity Christian's offense, picking up 23 kills. Merema got some help from Ella Behr and her 13 assists. Maddy Wilbur controlled things from the service line, finishing with eight aces.

As for Galesburg Christian, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-5-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Galesburg Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Maddy Peterson and Lydia Reed. Peterson had 16 assists and two aces, while Reed had three assists. Isabella Polillo also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Coming up, Unity Christian will square off against Quad Cities Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Eagles have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Galesburg Christian, they will be playing at home against Morning Star Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
