Basketball Recap: Southwestern's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Southwestern entered their tilt with Knightstown on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Knightstown Panthers as they made off with a 72-52 win. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 67-50 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Knightstown saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aaron Mefford posted 11 points and five boards. Mefford continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Stanley, who had seven points.

Southwestern's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Knightstown, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Southwestern has already played their next matchup, a 57-51 victory against North Decatur on the 21st. As for Knightstown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-45 defeat against Hagerstown on the 22nd.
