Baseball Game Preview: Sheldon Irish vs. South Eugene Axe

The Sheldon Irish will take on the South Eugene Axe at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games Sheldon has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Saturday, it was close, but Sheldon sidestepped Roseburg for a 2-1 win.

Meanwhile, South Eugene was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 13-3 to Roseburg.

South Eugene saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gino Humphrey, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Brendan Van Ryzin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Sheldon now has a winning record of 11-10-1. As for South Eugene, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.

Everything went Sheldon's way against South Eugene in their previous matchup back in April, as Sheldon made off with a 10-3 victory. Will the Irish repeat their success, or do the Axe have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
